Draftsman

Employment duties and requirements:

  • Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations.
  • Load PythonX (CNC Plasma Beam Line) with AutoCAD drawings/program; operate PythonX to learn its capabilities and limitations–this will ultimately lead to efficiently ‘troubleshoot’ for any issues.
  • Develop and prepare shop drawings and ‘approval’ drawings.
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
  • Order and track materials.
  • Supervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.
  • Any of the following experience will be considered for drafting positions:
    • Completion of a two- to three-year college program in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field.
    • Completion of a one- to two-year college program in drafting
      or
      Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program
      or
      Four to five years of related experience plus completion of college or industry courses in drafting are usually required for drafting technicians.
    • Certification in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field through provincial associations of engineering/applied science technologists and technicians.

Welders

Employment duties and requirements:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as: gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW).
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
    • Bel-Aire Welding Ltd., currently, has no brake and/or shear but are in the market for future consideration.
  • Valid, class 5, driver’s license.
  • Journeyman and apprentices are, both, welcome to apply.
  • Completion of secondary school is usually required; Bel-Aire Welding Ltd. does, and will, consider candidates with work experience and/or interest in the apprenticeship program.

Ironworkers

Employment duties and requirements:

  • Read blueprints and specifications to lay out work.
  • Fabrication/detailing of materials from drawings.
  • Unload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed.
  • Erect and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging.
  • May dismantle structures and equipment.
  • Able to coordinate crews, crane and erection of structural and miscellaneous items.
  • Valid ironworkers ticket; no apprenticing available at the moment.
  • Valid, class 5, driver’s license.
  • CWB certification for welding.

Labourers

Employment duties and requirements:

  • HARD WORKING AND WILLING TO LEARN NEW SKILLS.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Any previous experience is an asset but not necessary
